As the imposing storm front engulfs the valley, a gusty wall of wind pushes leaves and fallen branches further into the dark corners of the landscape. Summer (Brendon Collins) & Swyft bring the latest Tulipa classic Arcus / Coulees to the forefront, wielding it like a sky-born excalibur tempered to crush its enemies. An Arcus cloud is the first approaching storm feature and it blankets the gardens in a heavy darkness. Two different Coulees (one blue and the other green) are present just behind the rear of the gardens and both flood with torrential rain and hailstones. Lightning flashes rapidly on the slopes, making any sort of escape virtually impossible. The Tulipa Recordings label boss’ new productions with underground savant Swyft continue to rumble throughout the night.

The second installment of “No Filler Just Killer” brings together a fresh batch of artists showcasing their dancefloor-ready weapons. Neapolitans Moonwalk finally release one of the hottest bangers of this summer and a Solomun favourite, “Phenomena”. Featuring fellow French producer Rafael Cerato, the groovy cut follows the producers’ outspoken motto of releasing quality deep house that doesn’t keep track of trends. Kellerkind’s “Destiny” slowly builds up on a gloomy, synth-laden bassline, sustaining a melodic tension even after the breakdown. Faint and discrete female vocal accents add an unpredictable depth and harmony, while metallic pads make up the backdrop. The third piece comes from Boy Next Door and unveils a rapid-paced pick up tune, where percussion sets the course. An array of synths, ranging from neutral to jarring add even more flow to the unrelenting dynamic of the track. We step into a dub infused area with Channel X’s ‘Supernova’, an otherworldly journey into spacious grooves lined up by restless zippy synths. The ever so charming KlangKuenstler is responsible for the closing number, entitled “Drunk in Chicago”. With a distinctively Chicago inspired tech-house lumpy bassline and rounded up synths, it’s an instant mesmerizer. After the hook, it only takes a wholesome drum pad loop to keep you on board and enjoy the ride.

Busy busy busy but there’s just time before the clock strikes midnight to tell you about his wicked little three-tracker from Nite Grooves, which is the work of Ibiza-based producer Inaky Garcia.
Actually, I say wicked little three-tracker but there’s one track here that stands out head, shoulders and Abraham Lincoln-esque stovepipe hat above the rest! Taking the tracks in Oscars-stylee reverse order, then, Ezinhle is a perfectly acceptable, jaunty little prog-tinged house throbber with an Afro-Latin feel in the beats department, while Love For The Music itself, in its Beat Mix form, marries more straight-up 4/4s to an understated but funk-fuelled bassline and tops the lot with string sweeps and luxuriant pads, the end result being a laidback Balearic house epic with a decidedly euphoric feel.
But then we come to the Piano Mix, which is actually the lead track – and quite rightly so. Because here, a delicate intro of simple beats and gently tinkling ivories gradually swells into an absolutely ker-razy ass jazz-house workout with wukka-wukking funk geetar and some of the most wigged-out piano action this side of Thelonious Monk.

„Closed Sessions“ is a little comeback for our small family business RIVULET RECORDS, so we´re very happy to get help from some good friends on this one. Pablo Mateo from LACK, Perseus Traxx who has released on Bunker and MOS, Mod.Civil from Ortloff in Leipzig, Profile from Esthland and our very own Stanley Schmidt are artists who have been inspiring and exciting us for quite a while and who seem to share the same love for serious dancemusic. Although the tracks are very different, the whole compilation is driven by a dark and moody vibe which doesn´t let go the utopian and hopeful core of Housemusic which has been the light we´re been running for since one of these mornings.

Miss Melera is back in action on the influential Chapter 24, with a brand new and brilliant EP that features two great originals as well as Editions from Dave Seaman and Jonas Saalbach.
Miss Melera hails from Amsterdam and has been honing her craft over the last decade. She is a radio regular as well as a touring DJ who plays the finest clubs and festivals around Europe and the Americas. As well as this, she has proven her studio chops are slick and compelling and has released EPs on labels like Parquet and Einmusika before now.
Her first cut here is Magenta, a robust house roller with grumbling bass, dark atmospheres and icy hi hats rolling on top of the groove. It’s a broody back room track with lush synths that subtly uplift the whole affair and keep you locked.
Dave Seaman is one of the original pioneers of house music who has been smashing it recently with cuts on his own Selador, as well as Hive Audio, Suara and many other influential labels. His Edition of Magenta is much more wild and freewheeling, with edgy synths rising up and up above turbulent drums and apocalyptic chords.
Miss Melera’s next original is Mint, a deep and bubbly house cut with phased bass and scale riding pads that are spooky and eerie and suck you deep into a late night groove. Classy and well designed, it is another fine bit of work.
Jonas Saalbach is a young star who is making his second appearance on the label. He has recently put out an excellent full length on Einmusika and a fine EP on John Digweed’s Bedrock. Here, he comes good once more. His Edition of Mint is spine-tingling and awash with gorgeously smooth pads and spangled synths. Soothing and calming yet driven, it closes out an essential EP.
